Do You Have a Funkeys Website or Blog?
I posted some links a few days back and there has been a lot of traffic flowing to those Funkeys Blogs. I've heard some nice things about the increased visits, so I was thinking about creating a "Funkeys Links" page and list more to help others out. If you run a site or blog that focuses on U.B.Funkeys and you want it listed, please PM me (augiewan) on the forum with the information listed below. Do this even if I listed you before! If you focus on a couple things (such as Funkeys and Club Penguin) that's fine but make sure to mention that in your PM. This isn't open to a general blog that mentions Funkeys once in a while, sorry... If you know of someone who runs one, let them know about this so they can be included! DON'T POST THE INFO IN A COMMENT HERE! Send me a PM in the forum... So here's what I need in the PM: 1) Your nickname you want listed as the person running the site. 2) The URL (address) of the site/blog. 3) Is the site entirely devoted to Funkeys or is it split with something else? 4) If it's split with something else, what is it? Follow U.B.Funkeys @ theSpeakEasy.com - FINALLY!
I've been getting requests to set up a "follow-me" feature for all the blogger account folks out there. For a long time, that was only available to blogger sites that were actually hosted on the blogspot.com site. I'm not exactly sure when they changed that, but at some point in the recent past, Google (who owns Blogger) created a widget so that folks like me with their own domain could tie in to the "follow-me" feature of Blogger. Those of you with no Blogger account that want to follow can also do so using your Google account. So here it is! Follow! Follow! And you over there... Funkeys Babble 2008-2009 - RIP (2.0 on the way)
It’s hard for me to admit defeat, but the Funkeys Babble forum suffered a tragic end today. The database is completely corrupt and the hosting service I use does not allow for the replacement of a database that large from backup. I do plan to re-instate a forum here, and hope to have at least a general area to converse in by the end of the night. User accounts will need to be re-created, so everyone please avoid using usernames that you know others were using here. I’m going to allow those who had them the first time keep them based on e-mail address, so if you make one that someone else already has claim to, you’ll lose it and have to choose a new name. I’ll update you all as I have news. Tonight as I said before will be very basic. I’ll add the categories and the look & feel of the old forum as I get time this week. I've just reworked the entire " Purchasing Funkeys" page. The goal was to make it less confusing, though I'm not sure that's what happened! D'oh! I've started by giving direct links to eBay and Amazon.com for each individual Funkey available. I plan to expand this to include other sites including those from the UK. Hope you like! Ouch! Funkeys Babble Forum Back in Action After Outage
Sorry to all those who were trying to get in to the UBFunkeys Babble Forum or who were just coming for Funkeys updates! Our host server seems to have had something bad for breakfast and theSpeakEasy was down for while this afternoon. It’s disappointing that it happened, but then again it was a first after hosting with the company for many years. Working in an Internet related field, I happen to know first-hand that things don’t run smoothly ALL the time. So with that said, welcome to those who are just discovering the site and welcome back to all those returning. As more 2008 New York Toy Fair images are making it to the Internet, we've continued to gather as many as we can that were taken of the U.B.Funkeys display. Added recently are images from MillionairePlayboy.com and Action-Figure.com. So far, the images from Action-Figure.com have been some of the best up-close shots of the new Speed Racer and Dream State series. Funkeys Images and Forum Facelift
I had a little spare time today, so I went ahead and did a little sprucing up in the forum. I've gotten some positive feedback so far so yeah for me! I've also successfully posted small image galleries to each character page now. The Funkeys Forum here at theSpeakEasy has been growing at a pretty good clip since we opened it a month ago. New Image to Share, Funkeys Forum, Funkeys Checklist, and Speed Racer Funkeys...
OK, it's pretty sad that I haven't been able to update this part of the site more, but things are very active on the new Funkeys Forum, so if you haven't joined yet, click here and join in! So to give you all "something" new, here's another propaganda image from our Mattel insider. Hmm... that sounds so "blah", we really need to come up with a code name for them. Any thoughts? I've also realized that since I haven't really finished the whole design of the site, there are people looking for specific things that are having trouble so here are a couple handy links until I get the navigation finished up: 1) For those looking for the Funkeys Checklist which is a printable list (with images) of all the Series 1 and 2 Funkeys, you can find the original post here. Also to note, I'm hoping to get enough info from our source to update the list to include the Speed Racer figures. 2) For those looking for the Speed Racer Funkeys information, here's the post with the most up to date info... New source of information from Mattel
 It's been a little while since the blog has been updated, but it's been pretty exciting on this end. In addition to watching the Funkeys Forum start to come to life, we've been in contact with a source from Mattel who has shared some things with us. We're still trying to figure out how to use the images and information on the site, but we will definitely make sure to share it all! As a teaser, here to the left is a "propaganda" image from Tarrapinia. Click on it to see a larger view... One thing that they have agreed to is to allow us to gather questions from all of you and compile a list of four or five at a time (maybe every 2 to 3 weeks) that we feel represent what's on everyone's minds at the time. They will then send us the answers to post to the site. More details on that later, but for now feel free to sign up for the forum and add your questions here for consideration... Later all.... I tried to get this up and running yesterday evening, but I didn't get very far in customizing the look and feel. I would have preferred to get it all nice and perfect before letting all you Funkey Monkeys loose, but I just can't see me getting back to it until the weekend. Things are busy enough at work that I'll be spending my free evenings working. Official Speed Racer Funkeys Update
I've been in contact with someone inside Mattel who has clarified that the release date on the Speed Racer UBFunkeys series that is on Amazon.com is incorrect. The actual release date is not set exactly yet, but is figured for the month of March 2008. I'm sure that this will be a bit of a disappointment to some, but with as many of the already release figures still missing from my collection, I'm a bit relieved. If they saturate the market too fast, it could backfire on them with people getting frustrated. I was also given the official list of characters for Series 1... Wave 1: Speed Racer, Chim-Chim, Cannonball Taylor, Trixie, Snake Oiler, Racer X Wave 2: Speed Racer v2, Taejo Keep checking back.
