We are just overflowing with new information right now! The challenge is figuring out what to get posted each day... :)

As our regular visitors have known for a little while, our contact at Mattel (Funk-E) has agreed to answer questions about U.B.Funkeys from the fans in monthly installments. The first took us a little while to get together, but we're proud to finally get it up for all to see!

Some topics addressed include series retirement, additional Funkeys merchandise, as well as advise of cleaning your Funkeys. Check out the first installment here!

Before we release the rarity colors of the other Wave 1 Funkeys, we thought we'd give some general information. As you can see in the image above, the packaging is a light purple color instead of the green mock-ups that were on display at the New York Toy Fair.

You'll also note that the UB hub that comes with the Dream State starter has a new design to it. Some of you have already noticed this new UB being shown on the home page of the official site. Although some have stated that it looks a bit "girly", I personally like the new look a lot.

So what's going to be available in Wave 1 you ask? Here's the breakdown:

* Starter Set including 1 new UB hub, 1 Common Drift, and 1 Common Bones.
* All four Chat Funkeys including Holler, Rewind, Rom, and Gabby.
* The following normal Funkeys in the regular three rarity color variations: Ptep, Vlurp, Drift, and Wags.

There will be no Multi-Player Funkeys in Wave 1. One additional thing to note on the new starter packaging is the phrase "includes quest feature". We've not been given any information regarding this new feature, so we'll all have to wait and see...

Well, after a dry spell in new information here following the big release of the Speed racer Series earlier this year, we finally have some great new information to start sharing. In the following week or so, you should see daily updates regarding Dream State and a few other things.

This first update image above reveals the new logo for DreamState which is cool in itself, but also shows us our first full set of Common, Rare, and Very Rare from one of the Dream State Funkeys, Ptep!

They are in order left to right, the white Ptep is common, the tan Ptep is rare, and the grey Ptep with the black eye is very rare. Some of us speculated from earlier released images that the eye color would be the only thing differentiating the rarities of Ptep because we saw a red-eyed image as well as a green-eyed version in the image seen here...



Those were obviously just still "work in progress" images. There was similar speculation regarding the eye color of the Wags rarities, but that I can say was incorrect as well, but more on Wags later... :)

The official U.B.Funkeys site has been updated with Speed Racer content including the UFUNK News Break sequence, and character bios. The character bios include some cool little images of the racers in their cars...


But the coolest part about this update in my opinion is the teaser for the upcoming Dream State release this summer! Check out this image...



I know I'm getting pumped! :) Also if you go in to the forum there, the names of the two new zones that we've for a while only known as the "Nightmare Zone" and "Daydream Zone" are Daydream Oasis and Nightmare Rift.

As a side note, I know I've been less than regular posting here recently. I'm working on a lot of different things right now which includes the main site, at which I just added a large new image gallery of Funkeys! Check it out...

I've just reworked the entire "Purchasing Funkeys" page. The goal was to make it less confusing, though I'm not sure that's what happened! D'oh!

I've started by giving direct links to eBay and Amazon.com for each individual Funkey available. I plan to expand this to include other sites including those from the UK. Hope you like!

There's a contest being run right now by an ABC affiliate out of California in which the 1st place winner will get a bunch of Speed Racer goodies including what they describe as "a Funkey game starter set and set of Funkeys".

There are a few rules that you should know up front before entering. It's limited to US citizens that are at least 18 years old (sorry to all our international visitors). It runs from now until May 21st, and there's no purchase or other obligation. You just fill out the entry form and wait and see. If you're too young, get your parents to fill it out!

It looks as though our Canadian Funkey collecting friends will finally have better access to the little guys. According to this article on the ctv.ca website, Mattel will start shipping U.B.Funkeys to Canada in mid-May. You can all finally stop buying on eBay, eh? Sorry I couldn't help it. I had to... :)

We've always had a little traffic from Canada, but now maybe they'll start giving the UK a run for the #2 source country for visitors. In any case, I'm guessing that we'll see a new round of new blood here and on other Funkeys sites pretty soon.
