More Paradox Green Funkeys Propaganda
The series five (Paradox Green) propaganda posters just keep coming! Funk-E was gracious enough to let us introduce the latest in the line of posters here at theSpeakEasy. This one features the "frog-looking" Funkey (Tadd) tribe from the upcoming release... I'd also like to apologize to anyone waiting to hear back from me on various things. I have quite a few PM's on the forum that I have not gotten on to read. Things are very busy right now on this end and I will get back with you all soon! Edit: Ooops, I forgot to mention that you can click on it for a nice BIG version... :) Labels: Images, Paradox Green, Propaganda, Series 5, Tadd
Toyfair 2009 Funkeys Images Follow-up...
I was in a bit of a hurry when I submitted the last post and I glossed over some of the credit that should have been given. I mentioned Figures.com but failed to link to them, so please do go check out the rather vast pictorial they have up of the 2009 New York ToyFair... (I've also added a link in the last post) I also failed to mention that although I had been watching the sites that typically post images form the shows, I didn't catch these myself. I noticed the report of these new images by Blogger Mom over on the ubfunkeysarefun Blogger site. She in turn credited obsessedfunkey for getting the report in first over on her blog. This use to be THE only place to come get the latest Funkeys info (besides the official site), but we've got a lot of great blogs out there now to keep us all up to date! :) Tis a good thing... A few more images I didn't get up in the last post... Labels: 2009, Adventure Pack, Daydream Oasis, Hidden Realm, Images, Paradox Green, Toy Fair
Official Series 5 Name and Two More Posters
Sorry that it's been so long since the first of the three new propaganda posters was released in hi-res format here. Funk-E gave us all three to release and with the collapse of the old Babble Forum, we've been a bit distracted. But in talking with Funk-E today, I can tell you two things... 1) The fourth installment of ask Funk-E should be in our hands by the end of next week or sooner... 2) The "official" name for Series Five will indeed be what has been assumed by many. Others have wondered if it would maybe be "Game Factory" or something else entirely, but Funk-E has confirmed it. Paradox Green it is... :) So with no further ado, we bring you posters #2 and #3... U.B. Funkeys Paradox Green Propaganda Posters
Funk-E has been nice enough to supply us with larger, clearer versions of the "Paradox Green" series of propaganda posters we all first saw on Mayor Sayso's Facebook account. They are some really neat looking poster images based on the upcoming (yet to be officially named) series 5 and they've been creating quite buzz for the past week or so on a lot Funkeys blogs. Each highlights one new Funkey Tribe from the coming series and all three have two common pieces of text. One is "Paradox Green" and the other is "This message has been approved by Mayor Sayso". While Funk-E was happy to share these images with us, we are still as "in the dark" as the rest of you regarding what any of this means. The first up is the one featuring the "green" or "recycle" Funkey that caught a lot of folks attention a few weeks back when we posted the images from the Consumer Electronics Show. This little recycle Funkey with the crazy new head shape has a lot of people drooling for the new series. Click on the image for a larger version... For a SUPER huge version, click here... (2.35MB)Check back in the coming days for the other two! PS: Keep in mind that the next series we can all expect will be the DC Superheroes & Villains series this coming spring. Series 5 will be later in 2009... Labels: Funk-E, Funkeys Poster, Game Factory, Images, Paradox Green, Propaganda, Series 5
Joker From the DC Series of U.B.Funkeys
CNET has a small story covering the CES show where the DC and Series 5 images came from on Friday's post. They had one image of the Funkeys booth which shows a much clearer view of the new Joker Funkey... Click here to see the source story on CNET...Labels: DC Funkeys, Images, Joker, Toy Show
DC Funkeys and Series 5 Funkeys Revealed!
I was checking around and stumbled on these images taken at the Consumer Electronics Show currently going on in Las Vegas. Mattel is showing off the DC Funkeys again, with the addition of The Joker! Which means my theory was right and the DC line will have villains too! :) Also pictured are some Funkeys with 2 new head shapes, which I'm assuming must be the new Series 5 Funkeys that were announced a few days ago that use the Game Factory Tool. These are looking to be VERY cool! Can't wait to see more close-up images... Also being shown by Mattel is what looks to be a new line of figures similarly inspired by the Urban Vinyl movement, called f.a.m.p.s. They seem to be made and marketted for girls, but I know as a toy/figure collector, I'll be picking some of these up... The images were part of this article on mobitrends.com where you can find more information... Labels: DC Comics, DC Funkeys, f.a.m.p.s, famps, funkeys, Images, Series 5, Toy Show
U.B.Funkeys Hidden Realm Color Variations
The updates to the official site added the above two teaser images for Hidden Realm, including two rarity colors for the Yeti (Light Blue and Pink)and the YinYang (Green and Red) Funkeys. Adding the images we've already seen of the prototypes at SDCC 2008 and the side image from the Dream State starter, we see the following possible variants... (Yin-Yang) Green/Black - official site Red/Black - official site Green/Dark Blue - SDCC White/Green w/very different look - DS package (Yeti) White/Blue - official site White/Pink - official site Green/Tan - SDCC White/Blue w/different expression - DS package (Tiger) Orange/White - official site Green/White - SDCC White/Red - w/very different look* - DS package * I feel that this was likely an early design for what turned out to be the tiger design based on it's similar "tiger/sabertooth" family feel. I could be wrong. (Dragon) Blue/Orange - official site Red/Orange - SDCC White/Red - w/very different look# - DS package # I feel that this was likely an early design for what turned out to be the dragon design based on the flower design that was once on the face and now on the dragon's belly. I could be wrong. ...from SDCC 2008... ...from side of Dream State starter... Discuss it here in the forum! Labels: Funkeys News, Hidden Realm, Images
Official Site Updates: Dream State + Hidden Realm Teaser
The official site has been updated with Dream State content. There are also some Dream State images on the home page as well as a Hidden Realm teaser where the Dream State teaser use to be. Dream State Singles, Chat Packs, and Funkeys Speakers!
I finally found some of the new stuff myself this weekend! On Friday, I scored a pair of the Funkey Speakers that look like Scratch. I also saw the Lotus flash drive, but decided to wait on that until later. I'll be hooking them up at work tomorrow to see how they sound. I doubt they'll sound all that fantastic, but that's not the point of these babies and I don't exactly crank up the music at the office... :) Also, I found the four chat funkeys and well as two Dream State singles, Vlurp and Rare Ptep. Here's a shot of my Dream State Funkeys so far... They are finally getting a little easier to find. I've seen posts about them now showing at Target, Walmart, Meijers, and K-Mart... More Images of the Funkeys Computer Speakers
Our forum member webgopher posted some images of the Scratch speakers she bought from Target. As you can see in the images, they are bigger than the UB hub, which is bigger than I expected them to be! The ring around his face also lights up. I do believe I'm going to have to track a set of these down... :) I also see that there are currently a few sets on eBay...You can see the whole thread here and join the conversation...Labels: Funkeys Speakers, Images, Purchasing Funkeys, Scratch
First Screenshots of Nightmare Rift Show Up Online
One of the members over on the official site's forum posted some images of Nightmare Rift after they scored a Ptep figure. Now that the singles are also showing up on eBay, I'm sure this will be old news pretty quickly, but for those who are going to be waiting for their local Targets and Walmarts to get stock, here are some sneak peaks! More Target Exclusive Funkeys USB Flash Drive Details
It's official! The USB Funkeys Flash Drives are out at Target. One of our forum members, Cuddles, has purchased one of the new USB flash drives from Target. She got a Deuce and took some additional pictures for us... 1) We now see the back of the package that contains images of other Funkeys as well as some text that I can't make out. 2) The complete contents of the package including the Deuce USB Drive, instruction sheet, USB extension cable (for those hard to get to USB ports), and an attachable string/key chain thingy. 3) Flash Drive Deuce with his head off to expose the USB attachment. 4) USB Drive Deuce with the string/key chain thingy attached to his head. 5) Size comparison of the regular U.B.Funkeys Deuce and the Flash Drive Deuce. I had imagined them being bigger, but I'm glad they aren't. Labels: Deuce, Exclusive Funkeys, Funkeys Flash Drives, Funkeys News, Images, Purchasing Funkeys
New Dream State Characters Goya and Marshal
In this image above, we have two new characters to the Funkeys world. We've had a small peek at them on the main site (see the image below) but we now have clearer images and names to put to the faces! The one that many have said looks like Boggle in a trench coat is named Marshal. We don't know anything about Marshal's story yet, but look forward to finding out. The monster/dog looking thing is named Goya and is one of the new "bad guys" introduced in Dream State. Labels: Dream State, Funkeys News, Goya, Images, Marshal
All Six Speed Racer U.B.Funkeys... Check!
OK, yes... I still have to hunt down all the variations of the six Speed Racer Funkeys that have been released so far, but I do at least have one of each. And the amazing thing is that I got them all at the store (Toys R Us specifically). But the point is that I found them without having to resort to eBay! That's much better than it's been in the Midwest since the first wave of the first series. What I got was the starter set with the common versions of Speed Racer and Chim-Chim and the following singles... Trixie (common), Racer X (rare), Cannonball Taylor (very rare), and Snake Oiler (very rare). This was actually last week that I got them but I finally took a few pictures with my cellphone. I'll be hitting Toys R Us again tonight to see if they have any more. I'll also take some better pictures soon. Click them for larger images... Labels: Cannonball Taylor, Chim-Chim, Images, Racer X, Snake Oiler, Speed Racer, Trixie
Just a quick update to let you all know that the Speed Racer Funkeys' Character Bios have been added to the characters page. There are also small image galleries for each character on those pages. There will be more added, but I wanted to let you know they were up... Also a big thanks to webgopher for typing out the bios for me! Those new pages would have taken me forever to get up without the help... Labels: Cannonball Taylor, Chim-Chim, Images, Racer X, Site Updates, Snake Oiler, Speed Racer, Taejo, Trixie
New Images from the Official UBFunkeys Site
Some great new images have been added to the downloads section on the official Funkeys site. Below, you can click through to the images. As more 2008 New York Toy Fair images are making it to the Internet, we've continued to gather as many as we can that were taken of the U.B.Funkeys display. Added recently are images from MillionairePlayboy.com and Action-Figure.com. So far, the images from Action-Figure.com have been some of the best up-close shots of the new Speed Racer and Dream State series. Check them all out here in the gallery...Feel free to join the conversation about these images here...Labels: Dream State, Images, Site Updates, Speed Racer, Speedracer, Toy Fair
