Funkeys Babble 2008-2009 - RIP (2.0 on the way)
It’s hard for me to admit defeat, but the Funkeys Babble forum suffered a tragic end today. The database is completely corrupt and the hosting service I use does not allow for the replacement of a database that large from backup. I do plan to re-instate a forum here, and hope to have at least a general area to converse in by the end of the night. User accounts will need to be re-created, so everyone please avoid using usernames that you know others were using here. I’m going to allow those who had them the first time keep them based on e-mail address, so if you make one that someone else already has claim to, you’ll lose it and have to choose a new name. I’ll update you all as I have news. Tonight as I said before will be very basic. I’ll add the categories and the look & feel of the old forum as I get time this week. Sorry all, I’m just as disappointed as the rest of you. This was my baby… Labels: Babble, Forum, Site Updates
Babble Forum...
Hi all, The Babble Forum is broken. I did it while trying to upgrade the software over my lunch hour. I will try to get it fixed tonight. :(
Funk-E Offers Funkeys Loot to all Who Endured the Glitches
Hello all! Funk-E has asked that we post the following message here for all of our visitors to read... "We are very sorry for any confusion and trouble that was inadvertently caused during the holidays due to technical issues with U.B. Funkeys. Our Funkey engineers finally have everything cleared up.
It appears that there was a disruption in the communication between our servers (sounds like Master Lox was busy over the holidays). We are still busy sorting through the individual concerns, and I can assure you that errors to any player’s accounts are being worked on. I want to be clear that there was never any loss of information or security issues of any type. We are very protective and appreciative of our very loyal fan base.
But as a small token of our appreciation for the patience everyone has shown during the outages, we would like to give everyone a “belated holiday gift” in the form of some free loot! Every player account should be awarded a small amount of loot that they can spend in the Funkey Trunk or Angus’s Lab. As this is a way for us to say thanks to our loyal fan base, this gift will be a 1 time event that is gifted to all player accounts that have already been created and will not apply to new accounts created after the initial offering of loot has been distributed. Thanks again, and stay Funkey!"Labels: Announcement, Funk-E, Loot
U.B. Funkeys Paradox Green Propaganda Posters
Funk-E has been nice enough to supply us with larger, clearer versions of the "Paradox Green" series of propaganda posters we all first saw on Mayor Sayso's Facebook account. They are some really neat looking poster images based on the upcoming (yet to be officially named) series 5 and they've been creating quite buzz for the past week or so on a lot Funkeys blogs. Each highlights one new Funkey Tribe from the coming series and all three have two common pieces of text. One is "Paradox Green" and the other is "This message has been approved by Mayor Sayso". While Funk-E was happy to share these images with us, we are still as "in the dark" as the rest of you regarding what any of this means. The first up is the one featuring the "green" or "recycle" Funkey that caught a lot of folks attention a few weeks back when we posted the images from the Consumer Electronics Show. This little recycle Funkey with the crazy new head shape has a lot of people drooling for the new series. Click on the image for a larger version... For a SUPER huge version, click here... (2.35MB)Check back in the coming days for the other two! PS: Keep in mind that the next series we can all expect will be the DC Superheroes & Villains series this coming spring. Series 5 will be later in 2009... Labels: Funk-E, Funkeys Poster, Game Factory, Images, Paradox Green, Propaganda, Series 5

Joker From the DC Series of U.B.Funkeys
CNET has a small story covering the CES show where the DC and Series 5 images came from on Friday's post. They had one image of the Funkeys booth which shows a much clearer view of the new Joker Funkey... Click here to see the source story on CNET...Labels: DC Funkeys, Images, Joker, Toy Show
DC Funkeys and Series 5 Funkeys Revealed!
I was checking around and stumbled on these images taken at the Consumer Electronics Show currently going on in Las Vegas. Mattel is showing off the DC Funkeys again, with the addition of The Joker! Which means my theory was right and the DC line will have villains too! :) Also pictured are some Funkeys with 2 new head shapes, which I'm assuming must be the new Series 5 Funkeys that were announced a few days ago that use the Game Factory Tool. These are looking to be VERY cool! Can't wait to see more close-up images... Also being shown by Mattel is what looks to be a new line of figures similarly inspired by the Urban Vinyl movement, called f.a.m.p.s. They seem to be made and marketted for girls, but I know as a toy/figure collector, I'll be picking some of these up... The images were part of this article on mobitrends.com where you can find more information... Labels: DC Comics, DC Funkeys, f.a.m.p.s, famps, funkeys, Images, Series 5, Toy Show

U.B. Funkeys Game Factory Tool Announced
The following blurb is from a new press release from Mattel reviewing some of the coming 2009 Fall releases... U.B. FUNKEYS Game Factory Tool
U.B. Funkeys is a popular PC-based interactive game where vinyl toy collecting meets casual gaming. The U.B. Funkeys virtual world continues to expand as players collect figures and interact through in-game activities and challenges. The Game Factory tool enhances the user experience by allowing kids to unlock new gaming functionality within the U.B. Funkeys world. With each 2 Game Factory figures, kids can create their own U.B. Funkeys online game and post it to UBFunkeys.com where friends can play and rank their game.
UB Funkeys Game Factory Tool is designed for kids 8+ and will be available this Fall. Pricing is not yet determined. This could get interesting! Hopefully they'll get it well tested before launch-time. :) Labels: 2 Game Factory Figures, Game Factory, Game Factory Tool, Mattel, Press Realeases, U.B. Funkeys
